Primary Purpose

 

To lead and direct daily natural and synthetic turf grounds maintenance by district staff; ensure task completion and quality of work as it relates to zoned landscape grounds maintenance contractors.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Certification/Licensure

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual – Spanish/English preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ground maintenance and equipment
  • Knowledge of structural pest control laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of the use and operation of all equipment used in grounds’ maintenance
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
  • Ability to supervise ground crews 

Experience

  • 3 years athletic field or golf course maintenance             

Major Responsibilities and Duties 

  1. Manage and train district staff to maintain district natural athletic fields and synthetic turf grass.
  2. Manage and inspect landscape grounds contractors to ensure adherence to district mow schedules including edging, weed removal, tree trimming, and flower bed maintenance.
  3. Maintain records of reactive and preventative maintenance of mowing equipment.
  4. Apply pesticides and pest control devices according to District IPM Coordinator and product manufacturer’s recommendations.
  5. Follow all safety instructions when handling chemical applications.
  6. Report any hazardous situations to supervisor.
  7. Remove hazardous objects such as broken glass, rods, and concrete from the grounds.
  8. Respond to emergency situations as it relates to landscaping, irrigation systems, tree trimming and crushed granite walking tracks.
  9. Be available for after-hour demands as it relates to pesticide treatments, weed removal, athletic field maintenance, and crushed granite track maintenance.
  10. Participate in the district’s Standard Reunification Protocol as directed by the District Incident Commander or designee.

  22. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  23. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Equipment Used

Including but not limited to all hand and power tools, mowing equipment for athletic fields, sprayers, pressure washers, tools for synthetic grass management, lifts, and ladders.

Mental Demands

Daily effective communication and supervision of grounds crews; ability to maintain emotional control.

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Exposure to varying climate conditions, dust, toxic chemicals, and materials.
