Primary Purpose
Coordinate and implement the special education referral and evaluation process.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
Master’s degree in educational assessment
Valid Texas teaching and educational diagnostician certificates preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing diagnostic services in an educational setting
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct assessment of cognitive processing, adaptive behavior, academic and educational functioning of students, according to federal, state and district guidelines.
- Collect and analyze the data pertaining to sociological variables for students.
- Provide consultation to teachers, parents, other support personnel, and community agencies for individual education plan development and strategies of learning.
- Participate in ARD meetings to assist with appropriate placement and development of IEP.

- Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.
- Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.

- Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.

- Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
