Primary Purpose
Support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Clear Creek ISD by providing leadership and expertise within a Comprehensive School Counseling Plan. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
Master’s degree in counseling from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas Counseling certification preferred or LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LSSP, MSW, or Ph.D. in counseling
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of counseling and guidance
Ability to assist with instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Demonstration of counseling and leadership
Computer skills consistent with district expectations
Experience
Minimum of 3 years successful teaching and/or counseling experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide for an orientation of the student support program activities and services to staff, students, and parents.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and monitor effectiveness of campus Student Support Program based on student needs.
- Develop and implement an annual campus needs assessment to determine appropriate social emotional and mental behavioral health support services.
- Assist in planning appropriate intervention strategies to promote positive student behaviors.
- Counsel individually and case manage high-risk students as identified, referring to appropriate resources in the school and community as appropriate (Tier 2 and Tier 3 services).
- Provide risk screening as needed.
- Meet with students assigned to DAEP and provide ongoing counseling support for these at-risk students upon their return.
- Consult through conferences, phone calls, and individual meetings with:
- Parents/Guardians
- Administrators
- Diagnosticians
- Nurses
- Psychologists
- Teachers
- Other professionals
- Inform parents and community about the Student Support Program.
- Respond in a timely manner to parent calls emails.
- Guide individuals and groups of students and their parents/guardians to plan, monitor, and manage the student’s personal and social development.
- Partner with parents and appropriate community organizations to address social/emotional and/or mental/behavioral health concerns and requests for support services.
- Refer students, parents, and /or others to specialized programs and services within the school and community.
- Identify, compile and provide a current list of appropriate community resources.
- Serve as a member of the campus counseling team.
- Provide training and consultation as needed to support the campus “Comprehensive School Counseling Plan”.
- Train campus staff on child abuse prevention and intervention, including how to make referrals to Children’s Protective Services.
- Initiate and/or assist other campus staff in making referrals to Children’s Protective Services and respond to requests for information from Children’s Protective Services.
- Organize and provide staff development in the areas of student support and assisting at-risk students.
- Provide information regarding student support to the faculty.
- Communicate with faculty, as appropriate, regarding students’ needs.
- Maintain individual and group student support documentation.
- Collect and summarize data for submission to the Director of Counseling and Student Services.
- Serve as a member of campus and district Crisis Response Team.
- Inform supervisors of student threats to themselves and/or other students.
- Educate students on personal safety, health relationships, suicide prevention, and mental health awareness.
- Provide resources and support for staff as needed.

- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Occasional district-wide travel; prolonged use of computer; repetitive hand motions.
