Primary Purpose

Responsible for all preventative maintenance services and repairs to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability of vehicles for the transportation of CCISD students. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.


Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Texas commercial driver’s license with school bus and passenger endorsements and good driving record.
  • CCISD Fleet Technician Career Path TASBT Step 1 Certifications or be willing to obtain.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability.
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be cooperative and show initiative towards improving skills.
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills needed for data entry into maintenance systems

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience for Mechanic II required in bus, automotive, or truck mechanical repair experience. This can be hands-on, classroom training, or a combination of both.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Evaluates and performs all necessary vehicle repairs and other duties as assigned, within the qualification level obtained, indicating to the supervisor when repairs are complete, and another job assignment is required. Immediately requests assistance of the Shop Foreman when needed repairs are beyond current qualification level.
  2. Analyze and tune engines using engine analyzers.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles as required.
  4. Diagnose failures of vehicles, remove and replace parts as necessary.
  5. Inspect all vehicles for additional repairs.
  6. Has all major repairs inspected and approved by the Shop Foreman before the vehicle is released for service.
  7. Maintains a safe, clean productive and efficient work area.
  8. Identified and reports any repairs found to be necessary whether or not previously Indicates any necessary repairs that are above current qualification level.
  9. Records time spent, parts used and repairs on the appropriate forms provided as each activity is completed.
  10. Immediately brings unsafe practice or conditions to the attention of the Shop Foreman.
  11. Ensures compliance of work and work area with appropriate state and federal regulations regarding equipment and equipment maintenance.
  12. Immediately brings abnormal instances of vehicle abuse and major mechanical problems to the attention of the Shop

  23. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  24. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  25. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  26. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  27. Furnish personal basic hand tools.
  28. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Terms: 230 days

 

Pay Grade: AUX 6
