Primary Purpose
Utilize evidence-based strategies to effectively coordinate a prevention program to serve both Clear Creek and Friendswood ISDs. This process will happen through prevention groups on campuses, presentations on substance use prevention and behavioral health promotion, providing Positive Alternatives, and
providing referrals and resources for students served. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
Bachelor’s Degree
Certified Prevention Specialist designation or the ability to obtain within 20 months
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to coordinate district functions
Ability to organize and maintain data
Ability to implement procedures
Computer skills consistent with district expectations
Must also be able to meet the following training requirements:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certifications: obtained within 60 calendar days of
- Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid, obtained within 90 calendar days of
- Suicide Prevention, obtained within 90 calendar days of employment.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years successful work experience with school-aged children
Experience working with at-risk students and their families
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Complete evidenced-based curriculum trainings for each YP program funded by HHSC including Curriculum Based Support Group, Positive Action, and Botvin’s Life Skills.
- Document all Reporting Requirements for each small group facilitated by the Alliance ensuring fidelity to curriculum developer requirements.
- As required by HHSC, implement evidence-based curriculum with fidelity and keep detailed records including pre- and post-
- Make referrals for students and families as necessary and keep proper documentation of all such referrals.
- Work with Alliance Manager to schedule and implement Presentations in the community and on campuses regarding substance use and behavioral health promotion.
- Stay up to date on current trends regarding substance use and behavioral health promotion in order to ensure presentations have the most current information.
- Coordinate INDEPTH referrals from campuses and monitor the online portal. Schedule follow-up sessions with each student completing the INDEPTH online component.
- Work with Alliance manager to schedule and implement Positive Alternatives according to the HHSC Statement of Work.
- Maintain relationships with campus counselors to ensure all groups are running smoothly. Coordinate official “check-ins” and survey counselors twice per year to ensure quality management standards.
- Submit all YP Measures to Alliance Manager and Alliance Executive Director by the 10th of each month to ensure timely reporting for both the PATT and CMBHS. Ensure Measures Spreadsheet is up-to-date by the 10th of each month for reporting to the Alliance Board of Directors as part of Quality Management Plan.
