Description | Primary Purpose
- Be responsible for preparing appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements and maintain high standards of food production, sanitation, cash handling, and safety practices
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Valid food manager's certification permit or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal instructions in English
- Reading comprehension and basic math skills
- Working knowledge of the kitchen equipment and food production
Experience
- Minimum of one year successful experience in quantity food production or one year as a Worker I in a school setting
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain a valid food manager's certificate.
- Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested, uniform recipes.
- Maintain proper storage and care of food items and supplies; maintain clean and organized storage.
- Assist manager with team inventory.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all cafeteria areas, including but not limited to cold prep, meat cook, cashiering, serving, and dishwashing.
- Meet all scheduled meal times, portions, and serve the food per policy and procedure.
- Act as cashier or back up cashier as instructed.
- Temporarily monitor other employee work stations and assignments when instructed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and follow care and use of equipment.
- Maintain sanitary working condition to eliminate contamination.
- Ensure garbage collection is handled in a neat and sanitary fashion.
- Enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.
- Assist in recording food requisitions and request orders of necessary supplies.
- Assist manager in work order submission, tracking, and monthly preventative maintenance checklist.
- Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.
- Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
- Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
- Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
- Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Display proficient levels of technology applications.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
