Description

Primary Purpose

  • Install, repair, and maintain all types of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment to ensure proper indoor air quality in all district facilities.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check - must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills   
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic controls
  • Knowledge of sequence of operation for hot and chill water systems and controls
  • Knowledge of low-pressure boilers and pumps
  • Able to do some sheet metal work
  • Able to read extensive wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of basic techniques of hand tools, small power tools such as hand drills and      saws, and proper use of ladders

 

Experience

  • Requirement determined by supervisor

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Maintain a controlled environment on a routine basis.
  2. Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule as assigned by foreman.
  3. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  4. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  5. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  6. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  7. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  8. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  9. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  10. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  11. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  12. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  13. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  14. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
  15. Be available for after hour demands.

 

Equipment Used

  • Including but not limited to hand tools, small power tools, air conditioning gauges, volt, ohm, amp meter, ladders, and all other related air conditioning equipment and tools

Mental Demands

  • Concentration on assembly and repair of major HVAC equipment
  • Ability to maintain emotional control at all times

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

  • Strenuous walking, standing and/or climbing
  • Heavy lifting 20-80 lbs.
  • Inside and outside exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials
  • Slippery and/or uneven walking surfaces
  • Work on ladders
