Primary Purpose

  • Assist the Lead Custodian in overseeing routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of job safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Plan, oversee, and participate in all custodial work; maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  2. Maintain an inventory and order custodial supplies from the warehouse.
  3. Strive constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the staff and public.
  4. Perform emergency minor repairs and cleaning service as necessary.
  5. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, neat and clean at all times.
  6. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building operation.
  7. Responsible for daily cleaning of offices, lunchrooms, meeting rooms, corridors, including dusting furniture.
  8. Work overtime when requested due to meetings and staff training.
  9. Ensure that all restroom floors are scrubbed and disinfected and that all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains are cleaned and disinfected daily.
  10. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  11. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  12. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  13. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  14. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  15. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  16. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  17. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  18. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  19. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  20. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  21. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Including but not limited to buffer, scrubber, wet/dry vacuum cleaner, shampooer, extractor, and other small electrical tools
