Primary Purpose
- Operate and maintain the receptionist area for the department and provide initial contact with the public concerning questions and general information.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
- Proficient computer and typing skills
Experience
- Minimum of one-year successful general office experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Receive and redirect incoming telephone calls, take reliable message, and route to appropriate staff.
- Maintain receptionist area and greet visitors to the Special Services Department; determine what assistance is needed and provide appropriate assistance/information or direct to appropriate office or staff.
- Serve as the security checkpoint and notify liaison officers and/or appropriate administrators if necessary.
- Ensure all incoming letters, documents, and packages are routed to correct person or department.
- Assist in maintaining database of inventory for SERS materials.
- Provide clerical assistance to Special Services when needed.
- Create student files for all students with disabilities; update changes regarding current status and location of all student eligibility files.
- Ensure confidentiality in dealing with student records and other department business.
- Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.
- Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
- Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Display proficient levels of technology applications.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
