Description

Primary Purpose

Coordinate and implement the special education referral and evaluation process.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Master’s degree in educational assessment

Valid Texas teaching and educational diagnostician certificates preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories

           

Experience

Minimum of 3 years experience providing diagnostic services in an educational setting

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Conduct assessment of intelligence and educational functioning of students.

  2. Collect and analyze the data pertaining to sociological variables for students.

  3. Provide consultation to teachers, parents, other support personnel, and community agencies for individual education plan development and strategies of learning.

  4. Attend ARD meetings and make presentations as needed.

  5. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.

  6. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.

  7. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.

  8. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.

  9. Display proficient levels of technology applications.

  10. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.

  11. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.

  12. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.

  13. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.

  14. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.

  15. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).

  16. Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.

    • Account for the accuracy and verification of all student program data and reports.

    • Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices.

  17. Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices.

    • Account for the verification of the correct policy regarding all decisions and correspondence.

    • Implement effective policy-driven decision making.

  18. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Moderate walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting; regular district-wide travel to multiple locations
