Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assist students in crossing the street safely without undue delay for vehicle traffic.
  2. Assist students in providing a safe entrance and exit to and from schools onto city streets.
  3. Keep equipment in good condition.
  4. Supply counts and reports as requested.
  5. Report any person loitering in the vicinity of or interfering with a guard/controller.
  6. Wear the uniform and safety vest at all times while on duty.
  7. Use stop sign at all times when stopping traffic or directing children.
  8. Perform the job with little or no supervision.
  9. Manage heavy traffic and pedestrians.
  10. Manage large groups of children.
  11. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  12. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  13. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  14. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  15. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  16. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  17. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  18. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  19. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  20. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  21. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  22. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
