Primary Purpose
Finance manager that performs financial management duties and supervision to the Child Nutrition Department’s financial positions.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Special Knowledge/Skills Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
Ability to use a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis and word processing
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Ability to manage budgets
Experience
One (1) year financial management
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitor and audit all Child Nutrition funds as required by department, district, state and federal regulations.
- Comply with federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in food service area.
- Assist Child Nutrition Director in preparing all necessary data for processing of food service payroll.
- Work with the Child Nutrition Director to understand projects scope and financial charges to anticipate potential budget shortfalls or savings.
- Prepare and report real-time and monthly financial information and report on Child Nutrition projects including funds that have been designated or encumbered for individual projects.
- Prepare and report actual financial results of Child Nutrition program to Child Nutrition Director.
- Supervise the management of the Child Nutrition Department financial filing system to ensure that records of all financial transactions are supported and easily accessible for reporting and audit purposes.
- Provide support to the external auditors during the audit of Child Nutrition Department.
- Oversee the requisition and payment processes for the Child Nutrition funds as needed.
- Coordinate year-end procedures with accounts payable as it relates to the Child Nutrition funds.
- Oversee Free & Reduced application program.
- Prepare monthly reimbursement claim.
- Assist Child Nutrition Director in preparation of department budget.
- Oversee all Child Nutrition fixed asset inventory to ensure assets are added, removed and transferred to new locations.
- Review financial statements for the Child Nutrition Department on a monthly basis.
- Coordinate training for the Child Nutrition Department regarding financial matters.
- Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
- Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques for food service operations.
- Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis
- Account for the accuracy and verification of all student program data and reports
- Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices
- Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices
- Account for the verification of the correct policy regarding all decisions and correspondence
- Implement effective policy-driven decision making
- Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growh.
- Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
