Primary Purpose
Facilitate effective use of technology for teaching and learning district-wide; coordinate, develop, implement, and support district-wide technology staff development and initiatives.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge and Skills
Strong self-motivation
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, staff development, and technologies used in instructional settings
Successful experience creating instructional materials to promote technology use
Successful experience in creating and conducting staff development for adults
Ability to use a variety of hardware, software, and technology resources
Ability to work as part of a support team
Experience
Minimum of 5 years successful academic classroom experience
Minimum of 3 years working with computer hardware and instructional software
Experience with integrating technology across the curriculum
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Coordinate, develop, and implement technology integration within the curriculum as well as staff development programs at both campus and district levels to support current initiative by:
- Providing leadership and monitoring in the planning and implementation of technology integration as delivered in the classroom and through all district curriculum.
- Analyzing technology integration within the curriculum and staff development needs, developing training procedures and guidelines, and designing and creating technology training and skills assessment resources and materials.
- Identifying, analyzing, and applying research and evaluative findings to analyze program effectiveness and promote effective integration and professional development practices.
- Providing application support for use of instructional and classroom administrative electronic resources.
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating professional development activities to encourage the integration of technology and promote information literacy across the curriculum.
- Developing materials and resources for instructional staff to support the integration of technology into teaching and learning.
- Modeling and promoting technology-based instructional strategies for instructional staff.
Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs related to instructional technology and initiate activities to meet those identified needs by:
8. Researching new and emerging educational technologies and best practices related to instructional technology, and communicating findings
9. Identifying, analyzing, and applying research and evaluative findings to analyze program effectiveness and promote effective instructional technology practices.
10. Promoting and supporting development of innovative instructional programs and strategies related to educational technology and helping instructional staff pilot such programs and strategies as appropriate.
11. Assuming responsibility for the coordination and implementation of special projects to support and meet program goals (e.g. extracurricular student activities, grants, and presentations).
12. Serving on interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and interagency committees.
13. Collecting data and preparing responses to requests for information related to assigned tasks.
14. Taking the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments, keeping current with emerging technologies, and maintaining expertise.
15. Supporting, adhering to, and educating staff on policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of instructional technology.
16. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse backgrounds by employing effective interpersonal skills.
17. Communicate and support expectations that are consistent with district/department objectives.
18. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
19. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
