Description

Primary Purpose

  • Help maintain the physical school facility in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check - must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Posses the knowledge and skills to maintain plumbing needs of the school district

Experience

  • Requirement determined by supervisor

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assist the plumber in ensuring the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in district facilities.
  2. Assist the plumber in the repair and/or new work as requested.
  3. Follow all safety regulations related to any and all trade areas.
  4. Ability to learn all trades.
  5. Report any safety hazards in a building.
  6. Perform minor plumbing repairs that do not need the assistance of a plumber.
  7. Examine district facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance.
  8. Ability to understand written and oral instructions in English.
  9. Available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.
  10. Available for after-hour demands as needed.
  11. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  12. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  13. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  14. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  15. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  16. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  17. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  18. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  19. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  20. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  21. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  22. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Equipment Used

  • Including but not limited to hand tools required for plumbing repairs
  • Gas and electrical powered sewer machines
  • Pipe cutter and threader
  • Gas testing equipment
  • Welding and soldering equipment

Working Conditions

Mental Demands

  • Ability to maintain concentration while working around gas lines, water lines and energized equipment
  • Ability to maintain emotional control at all times

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

  • Standing, walking, bending, crawling, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling throughout the day
  • Inside and outside exposure to hot and cold temperatures
