Description

Primary Purpose

  • Performs duties as assigned, which could include vehicle washing, cleaning, fueling, facility maintenance and light vehicle repair.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred

  • Valid Texas commercial driver’s license and good driving record

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability

  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions

  • Must be cooperative and show initiative towards improving skills

  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision

 

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience for Mechanic I

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Evaluate mechanical problems and perform minor repairs as assigned by the Lead Mechanic or Shop Foreman.

  2. Assist lead mechanic in performing major repairs.

  3. Comply with shop rules and safety measures.

  4. Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operation condition.

  5. Furnish personal basic hand tools.

  6. Take initiative to improve skills as a mechanic.

  7. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.

  8. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.

  9. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.

  10. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.

  11. Display proficient levels of technology applications.

  12. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities

  13. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.

  14. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.

  15. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.

  16. Perform all duties as assigned; indicating to the assigned supervisor when completed and another job assignment is required.

  17. Have all vehicle repairs inspected and approved by the assigned supervisor or lead mechanic before the vehicle is released for service

  18. Record time spent, parts used, and repairs on the appropriate forms provided as each activity is completed.

  19. Immediately brings unsafe practice or conditions to the attention of the Shop Foreman.

  20. Other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.
