Primary Purpose
- Assist the Director of Maintenance and Operations: provide exemplary customer service; ensure quality installation, repair, and maintenance of all HVAC related equipment and systems; ensure proper indoor air quality in all district facilities.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/License
- High School diploma or GED.
- Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance.
- HVAC Class A license preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective computer skills including basic knowledge of district EMS software and district work order system.
- Able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair: DX split and packaged systems; air and water source heat pumps; air and water cooled chillers; hot and chilled water systems; low pressure heating and pool boilers; hydronic heating, cooling and pool circulation pumps; natatorium specific HVAC equipment.
- Able to read extensive wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of pneumatic controls, ice machines, refrigerators and coolers
- Extensive knowledge in the use of meters, gauges, hand tools and power tools.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years HVAC experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Respond to emergencies after hours, on weekends and holidays with little or no notice.
- Diagnose HVAC mechanical failures and scope of repair.
- Recommend and assist in scheduling repairs with contracted vendors when scope is beyond in-house capabilities.
- Be observant in buildings and report any safety hazards.
- Recommend supplies, equipment and parts for purchase
- Supervise HVAC personnel and effectively assign work orders.
- Assist Maintenance Coordinator evaluate HVAC personnel.
- Schedule and participate in HVAC preventive maintenance program.
- Maintain constant communication with Maintenance Coordinator regarding HVAC equipment and systems failures.
- Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
- Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
- Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district and department goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Display proficient levels of technology applications.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
- Maintain a controlled environment on a routine basis.
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.

- Perform other duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.
Equipment Used
- Including but not limited to all types of HVAC hand tools, diagnostic instruments and equipment manufacturer’s software
- Use of large A-frame step ladders and extension ladders up to 30’
- Use of hydraulic scissor lifts, Gantry/chain hoists and lift gates
- Use of sheet metal brakes and cutters
