Primary Purpose
Ensure that food service employees are trained in a timely and appropriate manner. Ensure that food service workers perform their duties following established standards of service, courtesy, food quality, sanitation, and safety.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/License
High school diploma or GED
Specialized food training obtained from a vocational school, junior college or senior college preferred.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the department may find acceptable
Valid Texas Drivers License and MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance if required for job performance.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
Ability to use a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis and word processing
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Knowledge of food production and record keeping
Takes initiative to seek opportunities for professional growth
Experience
Must have worked three years in a supervisory position with the National School Lunch Program
Successful cafeteria management mandatory
Computer skills enabling the operation of software programs is preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Make daily visits to cafeterias and closely monitor each site to insure strict adherence to all rules and regulations governing the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs.
- Assist with training managers in compliance standards for the successful operation of the Child Nutrition Department.
- Provide on-site support to cafeteria managers.
- Oversee child nutrition managers in their food production; supervisory functions for: employee training; and, sanitation. Periodically review manager’s inventory lists, and spot check freezers and storerooms to insure accuracy, conduct cash register audits and confer with managers regarding records, procedures, and general operations.
- Operate school district vehicle safely for up to 100 miles daily.
- Make recommendations and assist with all aspects of the employee trainee program.
- Assist in establishing procedures and priorities for the district cafeterias.
- Promote, coordinate and monitor sanitation and safety procedures in each cafeteria.
- Promote, coordinate, and monitor hazardous chemicals MSDS information and Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program in each cafeteria.
- Supervise and evaluate yearly, cafeteria managers within assigned area of responsibility.
- Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.
- Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices.
- Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices
- Account for the verification of the correct policy regarding all decisions and correspondence.
- Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
- Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
- Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Display proficient levels of technology applications.
