Description

Primary Purpose

  • Observe and monitor the Driver/Student activity on a school bus.

 

Responsibilities

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsement within 45 days of date of hire

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of student discipline procedure
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Possess common sense, patience, tolerance
  • Ability to assist the driver in evacuating students in the event of an accident/emergency

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Monitor assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
  2. Monitor all paperwork including route folders to ensure they are correct and up to date.
  3. Monitor student behavior
  4. Monitor student discipline problems with lead driver.
  5. Monitor students counts/run registers as required by TEA.
  6. Monitor required reports of all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures.
  7. Monitor Bus for mechanical defects and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
  8. Assist driver in maintaining a clean bus.
  9. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  10. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  11. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  12. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  13. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  14. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  15. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  16. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  17. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  18. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  19. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  20. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Hours: 5.5 +/-
