Primary Purpose

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Efficient computer and telephone skills
  • Knowledge of general office procedures

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years office experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Provide initial personal contact with visitors, students, and staff entering the school office.
  2. Assist in enrollment of new students, attendance, accounting, and record keeping.
  3. Perform the usual office routines and practices associated with a productive office (e.g., answering telephone, preparing correspondence, record keeping, file maintenance, etc.).
  4. Assist parents in checking students in or out of school.
  5. Maintain student files, including updating TAAS records, and file student report cards.
  6. Assist with scheduling teacher conferences.
  7. Administer homework requests to teachers.
  8. Assist with student office aides.
  9. Consult with teachers on daily routines to determine grades/conduct.
  10. Maintain phone master system for parent dial out.
  11. Stay current with school policies, programs, and activities.
  12. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  13. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  14. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  15. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  16. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  17. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  18. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  19. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  20. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  21. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  22. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
