Description

Primary Purpose

  • Maintain custodial equipment in a condition of operating readiness; performing routine repairs and preventive maintenance.

Work Schedule

  • 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check - must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance

Special Knowledge/Skills                

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills   
  • Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred
  • Basic knowledge of custodial equipment maintenance
  • Ability to analyze problems to reach repair solution
  • Knowledge of basic bench tools and concepts

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years equipment repair experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assume responsibility for the safe and efficient operating condition of custodial and emergency response equipment.
  2. Perform routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and new installations.
  3. Document repairs and preventative maintenance utilizing current work order management system.
  4. Work with Custodial Equipment Repair Technician, lead and assistant lead custodians, Fixed Assets, and Senior Coordinator of Maintenance & Operations (Custodial) in maintaining accurate inventory of site based custodial and emergency response equipment.
  5. Travel to schools to facilitate repairs, preventative maintenance, and/or train custodial staff in proper operating procedures based on manufacturer’s recommendations.
  6. Work in cooperation with Maintenance Supervisors in maintaining the district’s preventive maintenance and energy management programs.
  7. Be available for after hour demands.
  8. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  9. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  10. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  11. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  12. Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  13. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities
  14. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  15. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  16. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  17. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  18. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  19. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Equipment Used

  • Including but not limited to vacuum cleaners, buffers, carpet extractors, sweepers, fans, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers.

  • Slippery or uneven walking surfaces
