Primary Purpose
- Observe and monitor the Driver/Student activity on a school bus. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
- Ability to obtain a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsement within 45 days of date of hire
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of student discipline procedure
- Ability to work well with children
- Possess common sense, patience, tolerance
- Ability to assist the driver in evacuating students in the event of an accident/emergency
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Complete all training modules as assigned by Training department.
- Cover non-driving assignments as needed.
- Observe driver while on ride-along.
- Assist drivers with required paperwork to gain practical experience.
- Assist driver with student discipline.
- Assist driver in maintaining a clean bus.
- Review route folder to ensure they are current and complete.
- Monitor Bus for mechanical defects; notify supervisor and complete work order request for defective equipment as needed.
- Assist with student counts and all required TEA reports.
- Document student discipline problems with report to Route Supervisor
- Monitor Student behavior
- Pass review of skills coarse administered by training department.
- Pass DOT Skills test and obtain license Class B with P and S endorsements

- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching; heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes; flexible hours; evacuate students in the event of an accident/emergency.
Days in Contract: 45 days or less
Hours: 5 +/- hours per day
Pay Grade: Aux 2 ($16.00/hr.)
Anticipated Schedule: 6-9 AM & 1:30-5 PM
Training Schedule: in-between both shifts; generally 2 hours per day
