Primary Purpose

 

Plan, provide, and collaborate speech-language pathology services, including evaluation, as required to assist students with disabilities to benefit from special education and general education. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Certification/Licensure

Master’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited/approved college or university program, and Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licenses and Regulation (TDLR), and CCC or TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology

Or

Master’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited/approved college or university program, and Valid Texas license as an Intern in Speech-Language Pathology (CFY) to practice under supervision of CCC-SLP while completing the post-master’s degree – 36-week full-time internship

Or

Bachelor’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited/approved college or university program and Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licenses and Regulations (TDLR), and TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology

Special Knowledge/Skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge and demonstrated competency in: speech-language pathology evaluation and therapy procedures for communication disorders; education of diverse student populations; and human development and learning theories

Ability to instruct students and manage behavior

Openness to change and innovation to meet the needs of all students

Experience

Minimum of one year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience

 

 


Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

  1. Conduct speech-language evaluations/reevaluations of students referred through special education and provide a written evaluation report for assigned students.
  2. Provide speech-language therapy services according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Texas Department of Licenses and Regulations (TDLR), CCISD board policies, and administrative guidelines.
  3. Plan and provide direct and consultative speech-language pathology services consistent with speech and language goals and objectives contained in the student’s IEP for assigned students.
  4. Work with other members of general and special education staff and administrators to determine present levels of academic and functional performance, as well as, goals and objectives for determined areas of need.
  5. Conduct ongoing assessments of student’s progress, keep therapy logs for sessions recording progress data, and use results to plan and implement therapy.
  6. Review existing therapy data and conduct assessments to determine readiness for dismissal of speech-language pathology services.
  7. Work cooperatively with the campus and district instructional supervisors, coordinators, and department leads to improve therapy services.
  8. Integrate the instruction of technology into subject area instruction and use available technologies as appropriate therapy and learning tools.
  9. Plan and supervise assignments of speech-language pathology assistants, students, and interns.
  10. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  11. Adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines regarding confidentiality.
  12. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, and other staff members.
  13. Respond to parent phone calls/messages in a timely manner.
  14. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
  15. Create an instructional therapy environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
  16. Manage caseload/workload effectively.
  17. Manage student behavior in accordance with the CCISD Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  18. Provide for care and protection of school property and be held accountable for books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  19. Maintains accurate student attendance, therapy session data records, and evaluation reports and protocols in compliance with local and state requirements.
  20. Assists in upholding and implementing administrative regulations and board policy.

  33. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  34. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
