Primary Purpose

 

Assist the virtual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in the preparation and management of virtual speech and language treatment activities; work under the supervision of a licensed SLP; and support speech and language students during treatment sessions and transitions.

Major Responsibilities and Duties 

  1. Support and assist staff during instruction and virtual speech sessions, including maintaining attendance records, preparing instructional materials, and supporting administrative tasks.
  2. Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises.
  3. Assist staff in guiding/supervising students during daily activities and teletherapy inside the classroom, in the lunchroom, and outside the classroom during arrival and dismissal.
  4. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
  5. Attend professional learning opportunities as assigned.
  6. Assist in inventory, care, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  7. Model and reinforce appropriate behavior and assist with discipline and behavior management.
  8. Contribute to a positive school climate through the use of praise, encouragement, and example.
  9. Assist staff in collecting individual student data.
  10. Implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
  11. Implement individualized provision of positive and negative reinforcements for student behaviors.
  12. Always maintain student/staff confidentiality.
  13. Assist with student transitions.
  14. Maintain a log of activities.
  15. Assist with professional learning opportunities as assigned.

Frequent district-wide travel; moderate to heavy walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting; riding school bus for community instructions, exposure to chemicals for cleaning.  Use of personal vehicle for daily duties and transporting equipment (mileage between campuses reimbursed)
