Primary Purpose
Responsible for all phases of the fleet maintenance and repair to include preventative maintenance services to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability of vehicles for the transportation of CCISD students. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B) or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Pass an Annual Physical (DOT) Department of Transportation

Good driving record.

CCISD Fleet Technician Career Path TASBT Step 1, 2 and 3 Certifications or be willing to obtain showing consistent progress until obtained. (subject to TASBT updates)

ASE or MACS A/C recovery and recycling license or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

TXDPS Licensed State Vehicle Safety Inspector or obtain within six months of hire.

TXRRC Alternative fuel certification CNG Service and Installation; and or Propane On=Road Motor Fuel Employee Level or obtain within one year of hire.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions. Must be cooperative and show initiative towards improving skills.
- Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills needed for data entry into maintenance systems.
Experience
-
Four (4) years’ experience in bus, automotive, or truck mechanical repair experience. This can be hands-on, classroom training, or a combination of both. (Preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Service and repair gasoline, propane, CNG and diesel engines, brakes, mechanical, and air; front and rear suspensions.
- Analyze and tune engines through the use of engine analyzer, ignition analyzer, injector pump tester, and coolant
- Diagnose all failures of equipment, remove and replace parts as necessary, and repair any and all mechanical and electrical issues that arise.
- Repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts on all equipment.
- Operating and inspecting equipment to diagnose defects
- Reading and understanding operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Diagnosing faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Performs all necessary vehicle repairs as assigned, indicating to the Shop Foreman when repairs are complete, and another job assignment is
- Maintains a safe, clean, productive and efficient work
- Identifies and reports any repairs found to be necessary whether or not previously Indicates any necessary repairs that are above current qualification level.
- Records time spent, parts used, and repairs on the appropriate forms provided as each activity is completed.
- Immediately brings unsafe practice or conditions to the attention of the Shop
- Ensures compliance of work and work area with appropriate state and federal regulations regarding equipment and equipment
- Immediately brings abnormal instances of vehicle abuse and major mechanical problems to the attention of the Shop

Work various changing shifts or extended hours pending on district needs. Work 24-hour on-call duty on a rotating schedule as needed. Ability to handle mobile call outs to assist with emergency breakdowns and on the spot repairs.
